How Great Thou Art (O Lord My God!)

by Stuart K. Hine

O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze

And when I think that God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die-I scarce can take it in
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home-what joy shall fill my heart!
Then shall I bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

I love how this song says "you were made to meet your maker." That's the destiny of our soul, to be united with the creator God in heaven. We see only in part now but our eyes will be opened to the full majesty of God when we reach him. My heart is so fickle, and falls for so many worldly and human infatuations. My eyes are woozy because they don't search very hard for the truth. I often settle with mediocrity. I thank God that we will have fullness of joy eternally and we will be able to sing praises to God forever, face to face with Him. God I ask that you would renew my strength and encourage me daily to thirst for you more and to act on that thirst. I'm sorry that I take you for granted. Please help us all to value you and to be awakened to your beauty and your power.

"Awake My Soul" by Mumford and Sons

How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don't know
This weakness I feel I must finally show

Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all
But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall
Lend me your eyes I can change what you see
But your soul you must keep, totally free
Har har, har har, har har, har har

In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life

Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul
You were made to meet your maker
Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul
You were made to meet your maker
You were made to meet your maker

Years of choral singing with Mrs. Urda and the Gwinnett Young Singers has given me an appreciation for sacred and classical music. This song was on my heart this morning.
Here are the lyrics:

"With a Voice of Singing"
With a voice of singing declare ye, and tell this; utter it even to the end of the earth. Hallelujah!
The Lord hath redeemed His servant Jacob. Hallelujah, hallelujah!
Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands.
Sing forth the honor of His Name, sing forth the honor of His Name; make His praise glorious.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

With a voice of singing declare ye, and tell this; utter it even to the end of the earth. Hallelujah!
The Lord hath redeemed His servant Jacob. Hallelujah, hallelujah!
Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands.
Sing forth the honor of His Name, sing forth the honor of His Name; make His praise, make His praise glorious.
